When you experience foot problems, it can affect everything from your balance to your mobility. It’s important to see a podiatrist right away to avoid a worsening situation. New Albany Family Footcare is the podiatry clinic of choice for patients in the area, and we look forward to assisting you.
The friendly, personable podiatrists at New Albany Family Footcare provide treatment for a variety of foot and ankle problems. It’s important to get even seemingly minor issues, such as foot discomfort, assessed because they could be early symptoms of more severe issues. Our team treats sports-related injuries like sprains or strains, athlete’s foot, plantar fasciitis (heel spurs), tendonitis, and metatarsalgia (pain or inflammation on the ball of the foot). We also treat ingrown toenails, warts, high or low arches, hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating), callouses, bunions, hammertoe deformities, and more.
We also provide comprehensive foot screening and treatment for patients with diabetes, and we treat nerve issues including Morton's neuroma, tarsal tunnel syndrome, and ganglion cysts. Our exceptional medical care team also provides orthotic and AFO casting and fitting.
It’s important to seek out a specialist when having foot issues for the best treatment possible. Many people try to treat foot issues at home or without a specialist, only to see their condition worsen. If you are experiencing pain, swelling, or stiffness in your ankles and joints, a podiatrist can evaluate you for arthritis and provide treatment specific to the foot area. Athlete’s foot doesn't always go away with just over-the-counter products. If it is persistent, then you may have a bacterial infection that needs to be treated by a professional. Similarly, bunions sometimes get bad enough that they require surgery, and ingrown toenails can cause infections and need to be removed. Patients with diabetes have an increased risk of serious foot problems that could lead to amputation, so it’s important to schedule a visit at least annually.
Prolonging treatment for any of these conditions or attempting to self-diagnose or self-treat can lead to serious health and mobility issues. We can effectively diagnose you and provide a treatment plan to you get you back to being more mobile.

There are many pedal issues requiring biomechanical control through functional orthotic devices. What an orthotic device provides is stabilization of the pedal joints and therefore a more functional and less stressed locomotion.
In our practice we find orthotic use tremendously helpful in treating Plantar Fasciitis, Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome, Tendonitis, Over-Use Syndromes, Bunion Deformities, Hammertoe Deformities and many other disorders.
With a growing emphasis on health and fitness New Albany Family FootCare evaluates many sports related issues—Ankle Sprains/Strains, Tendonitis, Over-Use, Injuries, Subungual Hematoma amongst a host of other issues which may arise. We attempt to schedule the patient within the day of injury.
Bunion and Hammertoe deformities are seen quite frequently. Most times, the deformities may be cared for in a conservative manner such as padding, wide loose fitting shoes and with orthotic devices to help slow the progression of the deformity.
Although conservative measures work well the deformities may need to be addressed surgically. We consider surgery an option not the first approach to treatment.

After experiencing pain in my great toes for a few weeks I decided to visit a podiatrist. I found Dr. Barnhart through my insurance website and am very glad I did! Dr. Barnhart and his staff were delightful and very professional. Upon learning that I was a diabetic, Dr. Barnhart conducted a full diabetic foot exam and explained what warning signs I should look out for. I was diagnosed with ingrown toenails on both feet and Dr. Barnhart took extra care to inform me of each step of the removal procedure and ensured that I was comfortable. His nurse even held my hand!!! I will continue to see Dr. Barnhart for all my foot care needs and highly recommend him to anyone in need of a Podiatric Physician.....Lynette
